Bryant Baker

Swiftwater Rescue and Guiding

As many of us do, Bryant responds to many titles. His two favorite roles are husband to his wife Laura and proud Papa to his three girls. Professional titles include guide, instructor, operations manager, race director. He has worked in the outdoor adventure industry for 21 years, spending the vast majority of that time leading whitewater rafting and climbing trips here in the New River Gorge region of West Virginia. He has also guided multi-day rafting trips on the Cataract Canyon and Grand Canyon sections of the Colorado River. Southeast Utah has also played a prominent role in his outdoor career, where he worked as a Wilderness Therapy Instructor, teaching primitive living, wilderness survival, and overland backcountry navigation skills to adults and adolescents struggling with addiction and self-destructive behaviors. He has also spent 5 years as a High School teacher, working specifically with students in a residential psychiatric treatment facility. Recreationally, Bryant is an ultra-distance runner and long distance thru hiker (Appalachian Trail 2010, Colorado Trail 2012).

He is currently the River Operations Manager of ACE Adventure Resort while also leading training courses as an ACA L4 Swiftwater Rescue Instructor, ACA L5 Rafting Paddle & Oar Instructor, and International Rafting Federation Instructor.

“I have a passion for facilitating meaningful outdoor adventures, using my knowledge and skills to introduce others to wild places they would most likely not be able to experience on their own. I am a firm believer in the transformative power that exists when we combine wilderness, human interaction, and adventure.”
